[ENTERTAINMENT] Nigerian Artist, D'banj, Not Our Ambassador, Says United Nations

The United Nations has disassociated itself from Nigerian artist, Oladapo Oyebanjo also called D'Banj. 

D'Banj is blamed for assault by Seyitan Babatayo, an issue which has incited the request for an examination from the workplace of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu. 

Following the claims against him, more than 22,000 Nigerians marked a request on Change.org as of June 24, 2020 to strip him of his alleged United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace. 

In 2012, D'Banj's marketing specialists had asserted that the artist was the primary Nigerian to be named an UN Youth Ambassador for Peace. 

Responding to a request by PUNCH on the status of this implied ambassadorship, the UN answered saying:- 

“I would like to confirm that the said Mr. Oladapo Oyebanjo aka D’Banj is not a UN Ambassador. The title was accorded to him by an obscure UN youth association which has nothing to do with the United Nations. I hope this clarifies.”
