[NEWS] One Affirmed Dead After Bridge Collapsed During Heavy Rainfall In Kwara (See Photos)

One individual has been affirmed dead after an extension fallen at Oko-erin, Ilorin, Kwara State on Saturday night, June 13 after an overwhelming precipitation. 

An observer said a vehicle conveying three travelers fell into the waterway after the extension fallen. 

“The bridge collapsed around 10pm on Saturday night because of heavy downfall. The driver was on the bridge when it tore apart and they fell into the canal. They died because they could not get help as people didn’t have means of rescuing them, we had to standby and expect the emergency team to come.” the eyewitness said

Affirming the occurrence, the Kwara state government through its Twitter handle, said endeavors are being made to discover two missing people. 

The state government says up until this point, one individual has been affirmed dead in the occurrence.
