[SPORT UPDATE] Italian FA Chief Suggests Serie A Could Finish In October

Italian FA Chief Suggests Serie A Could Finish In October
be permitted to complete the 2019-20 season as late as October, as per Italian Football Federation (FIGC) president Gabriele Gravina.

Italy's top flight was suspended inconclusively a month ago because of the spread of coronavirus, and the FIGC expressed on Friday that the season would not be continued until the wellbeing and security of all concerned could somehow or another be ensured.

Italy has been the nation hardest hit by COVID-19 in Europe, with near 129,000 affirmed cases and in excess of 15,800 passings, albeit official figures over late days have demonstrated exacting lockdown measures are affecting the spread of the infection.

Gravina says the proposed date of May 17 to restart Serie A remaining parts a chance, however he demands it is ideal to permit 2019-20 to complete a lot in the not so distant future if important, instead of proclaim the season dropped.

“It’s a hypothesis,” Gravina revealed to RAI when inquired as to whether a September or October finish had been advanced. "At the moment, a possible date to restart could be May 17, but I want to clarify that this is only a hypothesis.

“Finishing the season would be the best way not only so the 2019-20 season is not compromised, but also to avoid compromising the 2020-21 season in any way.”
